Airmatic Lowering Links - Mercedes E-Class W213

Adjustable lowering links for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213's original AIRMATIC air suspension.

Controlled lowering of the ride height reduces the gap between the wheel and the fender, giving the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 a more refined and balanced appearance. Vehicle-specific lowering links allow for a subtle OEM+ style lowering, suitable for both original and upgraded wheel and tire configurations.

Key product features

  • Vehicle-specific dimensions: The initial measurements are defined for the specific car model, not a universal one-size-fits-all solution for all vehicles.
  • Independent adjustment of front and rear axles: Allows for a balanced and precisely desired front-to-rear stance.
  • Precision-machined construction: Critical dimensions are checked with measuring devices with a resolution of 0.001 mm.
  • Direct attachment to original sensor balls: Stainless steel ball joint sleeves and retaining clips ensure secure attachment.
  • Mechanical and reversible solution: No separate signal modification module or changes to the car's electrical system.

Since the modification is made directly via the height sensor links, the system is easy to inspect, adjust, and, if necessary, revert to the original configuration. No changes or wire cutting are needed for the car's suspension electronics.

Front and rear axle ride height adjustment

The ride height is continuously adjustable to the desired level, and the lowering is not limited to one predetermined height.

The normal adjustment range extends from nearly original height to approximately 50 mm of lowering on both the front and rear axles.

The final adjustment should be determined based on actual measurements after the air suspension has settled into its normal driving mode.

Operating principle

The lowering links operate at the point where the physical movement of the suspension is transmitted to the height sensor. By altering this mechanical relationship, the car's ride height can be lowered while retaining the original suspension interface and automatic height adjustment.

The solution does not require a control unit connected to the electrical system or modification of the height signal.

What does the package include?

The package includes a complete vehicle-specific lowering link kit for the front and rear axles.

No separate electronic control unit is required. The installation utilizes the car's original height sensor mounting balls.

Compatibility

Designed for the following application:

  • Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

Compatibility requires the vehicle to have factory-installed AIRMATIC air suspension.

Suspension technical specifications may vary by market, model year, and optional equipment. If there is uncertainty about compatibility, the vehicle's VIN should be checked before ordering.

Installation and adjustment

Mechanical installation is straightforward, but precise measurement is essential to achieve the desired outcome. For an experienced installer, approximately 60–90 minutes should be allocated for installation, adjustment, and final inspection.

After installation, the following should be carefully checked:

  • ride height evenness
  • clearance between lowering links and surrounding structures
  • sensor link range of motion
  • proper attachment of retaining clips
  • space between tires and body structures
  • wheel alignment

For cars equipped with large aftermarket wheels, additional checks should be made for internal tire clearance at full steering lock and during suspension compression.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 be lowered?

The lowering links allow for adjustment from nearly original height to approximately 50 mm lower on both the front and rear axles. The actual usable lowering depends on factors such as clearances, car calibration, wheel and tire size, and road conditions.

Are the lowering links suitable for winter use?

The link ends and mounting sleeves are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel. However, after extensive exposure to road salt, regular cleaning and inspection are recommended.

Is a separate electronic control unit required?

No. Adjustable lowering links directly change the mechanical reference of the height sensor, and no separate control unit needs to be added to the car's suspension wiring harness.

Can the front and rear axles be adjusted separately?

Yes. The front and rear axle heights can be adjusted separately, allowing for fine-tuning of the car's stance to the desired look.

What should be checked after installation?

Ensure that the ride height is even, the sensor links move freely, and the retaining clips are properly in place. Additionally, check tire clearances and wheel alignment.

Adjustable lowering links offer the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 a precise, mechanical, and reversible way to fine-tune ride height – without coding or changes to the car's suspension electronics.
