GRAIL Downpipe – BMW M5 F90 OPF, S63 4.4 V8 (2018–2023)

Designed for the BMW M5 F90, the GRAIL Downpipe replaces the original primary and secondary catalytic converters and takes the soundscape of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine to a new level. The product is intended for 2018–2023 M5 F90 models equipped with an OPF particulate filter.

The original gasoline engine particulate filter (OPF/GPF) remains completely unchanged in the vehicle. It is an essential part of the system's operation and sound insulation. The product is not suitable for vehicles without an OPF particulate filter.

Made from L304 material, the GRAIL Downpipe is type-approved in accordance with the UN ECE R103 standard. According to the manufacturer, it can be combined with the original exhaust system, a GRAIL exhaust system, or other ECE type-approved exhaust systems in accordance with the terms of approval.

Deliveries start in March 2027.

The product replaces the primary and secondary catalytic converters. The original gasoline engine particulate filter remains in place and continues to operate as part of the exhaust gas system.

Not suitable

• BMW M5 F90 models without an OPF/GPF particulate filter

• Exhaust system configurations without an OPF particulate filter or other incompatible configurations

The particulate filter is an important part of the exhaust system's sound insulation. For this reason, the product is intended exclusively for vehicles equipped with an OPF particulate filter.

Registration, inspection and emission requirements

The GRAIL Downpipe designed for the BMW M5 F90 S63 (2018–2023, OPF-equipped vehicles) is type-approved in accordance with the UN ECE R103 standard, according to the manufacturer's declaration. The product replaces the original primary and secondary catalytic converters, but the gasoline engine particulate filter remains in the vehicle.

According to the manufacturer, the modification does not need to be registered separately when the product is used in accordance with the terms of approval with the original exhaust system, a GRAIL exhaust system, or another ECE type-approved exhaust system.
