RADIUM ENGINEERING CATCH CANS
Radium Engineering breather tanks feature large 10AN ORB connections, a 4AN ORB drain port, a two-stage oil separator baffle, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. The kits install into the vehicle's factory mounting points and integrate seamlessly with other components in the engine bay.
These are not open system VTA (vent to atmosphere) tanks, but closed systems, so they comply with emissions regulations and track driving rules. In a closed system, the oil and sediment contained in the PCV gases are separated and the gases are returned to the engine for combustion. In addition, the closed system helps maintain negative pressure in the crankcase, which improves engine performance. It also prevents oil vapors from entering the passenger compartment.
A dipstick built into the tank allows for easy checking of accumulated fluid. Installation requires no cutting, drilling or permanent modifications.
SUMMARY – R35 GT-R
Radium Engineering offers two different breather tank kits for the Nissan R35 GT-R:
1. PCV System Kit (20-0565)
-
Installed next to the brake booster, at the rear of the engine compartment.
-
Connects to the hose that runs from the engine's PCV valve to the intake manifold.
-
NOTE: Not directly compatible with 2008-2011 GT-R models that do not have the original strut bar.
2. Crankcase Breather (CCV) Kit (20-0555)
-
Installed at the front of the engine.
-
Connects to the cover breather hoses that go to the intake side of the turbos.
-
Includes two breather tanks – one for each deck breather.
The kits can be purchased separately or together. The most complete protection is achieved by using both kits at the same time:
-
The PCV kit prevents oil from entering the intake manifold during light driving, idling, etc., when the PCV valve is open.
-
The CCV kit works when running on boost, which causes the PCV valve to close and all crankcase pressure to be released through the vents in the cover – this is when oil recovery is particularly important.
20-0555 DUAL CATCH CAN KIT – CCV – NISSAN R35 GT-R
In this kit, two CCV breather tanks are connected directly between the crankcase breather ports and the turbo intake hoses, thus maintaining the car's original functionality.
-
Under light load, the tanks experience atmospheric pressure.
-
During hard driving (at full throttle), crankcase pressure increases and the system prevents oil and dirt from entering the turbo's air intake and intercooler, which would otherwise reduce heat exchange capacity and engine performance.
PLEASE NOTE:
-
The CCV kit does not handle blow-by gas coming through the PCV valve.
-
The CCV series is compatible and recommended for use in conjunction with the PCV series to achieve the best possible protection.
