MMR Performance Low-Temperature Oil Thermostat – BMW N54 & N55
Replaces the OE oil thermostat on the BMW N54 and N55 engine with a lower-opening unit, keeping oil temperature within a controlled 90–110°C range. Fits models from 2008 onwards — check the fitment table below for your specific chassis and variant.
Description
Higher power output and sustained high-load driving — particularly on track — increase the amount of heat the engine has to dissipate. The factory oil thermostat is calibrated around OE power levels, so tuned or hard-driven N54/N55 engines commonly run oil temperatures above the optimal range, reducing the oil's ability to maintain proper lubrication under load.
The MMR low-temperature thermostat lowers the regulation point so oil temperature is held between 90–110°C. It's a straightforward, bolt-in alternative to fitting a separate oil cooler system, using the existing OE thermostat housing.
Machined from T6-6061 aircraft-grade aluminium and anodised in a dark anthracite finish.
