Overview
The Eventuri BMW E9X M3 intake system is the result of extensive research and development to optimize the already excellent original intake. BMW's stock airbox is exceptionally well-designed, but Eventuri identified critical limitations, particularly in the pipe between the airbox and the manifold.
By redesigning the intake pipe and retaining the original airbox, engine breathing is significantly improved. Additionally, a carbon fiber scoop was developed for the air supply system, increasing airflow into the airbox. This reduces intake air temperature and improves overall performance.
Dyno Results
Tests show a consistent performance improvement across the entire rev range – not just at peak power. In practice, this means better throttle response both at partial and full throttle, and the engine pulls noticeably more eagerly all the way to the redline.
Testing was conducted using a back-to-back method under the same conditions to ensure comparable results.
Road Dyno (Insoric)
Under road conditions, airflow is more efficient than with a dyno fan, allowing the system to operate optimally. In this scenario, an increase of up to 16 hp and 14 Nm was achieved.
Datalogging – Airflow and Temperature
Measurements show:
-
Higher mass airflow across the entire rev range
-
Significantly better performance at high RPMs
-
Lower intake air temperature
Examples:
Acceleration Tests (VBOX)
Tests were performed on the same road section under the same conditions:
-
100–200 km/h:
-
Stock: 9.56 s
-
Eventuri: 9.24 s
An improvement of approximately 0.3 seconds, which is a significant difference at these speeds.
Contents
The system consists of the following components:
-
Carbon fiber intake tube
-
High-flow urethane cone filter
-
Carbon fiber air scoop
-
CNC-machined breather adapter
-
Laser-cut stainless steel debris shield
-
Silicone coupler and OEM-grade clamps
Carbon Intake Tube
The one-piece carbon fiber tube, without internal connections, allows for smooth and laminar airflow. The shape transitions from a round filter connection to an oval manifold connection much more efficiently than the stock solution.
Disadvantages of the stock pipe:
Eventuri's solution completely eliminates these problems.
Engine Movement Consideration
The tube is designed to move with the engine without separate flexible connections. A neoprene seal allows for movement while maintaining a tight seal and optimal flow.
Carbon Air Scoop
The stock system draws air from two sources, but the lower feed is the most important. Eventuri improved this by:
-
Removing flow obstructions from the duct
-
Increasing air velocity by up to ~50%
-
Improving air transfer to the airbox
Result: lower intake temperatures and better performance.
Debris Shield
A protective mesh attached to the filter prevents debris and water from entering the filter directly without affecting performance.
