FMIC.Pro electronically controlled catback exhaust system with Dual X-Pipe design – BMW M3 G80 / G81 and M4 G82 / G83 3.0 S58 2021–
The FMIC.Pro catback exhaust system is designed to improve exhaust flow and produce a distinctly sportier sound.
The 76 mm (3.0”) pipe diameter combined with the muffler design produces a deeper and fuller sound under load while maintaining driving comfort during normal driving – especially when the exhaust valves are closed.
The exhaust system is made entirely of SS304 stainless steel, which resists corrosion and high operating temperatures. CNC-bent pipes ensure uniform geometry and precise fitment to the vehicle's original mounting points. Installation is straightforward and based on a plug & play principle. All welding seams are TIG welded under argon gas protection, ensuring clean, finished, and fully sealed joints – these are essential factors for a long service life.
CNC-machined 10 mm thick flanges are used at the connection points. They increase structural rigidity, reduce the risk of deformation caused by thermal cycles, and ensure even compression pressure on the gasket across the entire connection surface.
The system features integrated electronically operated exhaust valves that control the flow of exhaust gases in the rear section of the exhaust system:
Closed mode – exhaust gases pass through the entire muffler system, keeping the sound subdued and maintaining high driving comfort for daily use.
Open mode – exhaust gases bypass the rear muffler, making the sound louder, more direct, and sportier.
Thanks to this solution, the driver can adjust the exhaust system's sound characteristics according to driving conditions and personal preferences. The valves are controlled by the included control unit and two remote controls, allowing the operating mode to be switched instantly.
Dual X-Pipe version
In the Dual X-Pipe version, two separate pipes run through the center section of the exhaust system, joining via an X-Pipe design. This solution enables the exhaust pulses to interact between both sides of the system and produces a different soundscape compared to the Single Mid-Pipe version.
The design generally produces a sharper and more pronounced sound, with higher frequencies emphasized more. The difference is usually most noticeable as engine speed increases, when the sound becomes louder and more dynamic, giving the exhaust system a sportier character.
The Dual X-Pipe is a good choice for the driver who wants a dynamic and distinctly pronounced sound from their exhaust system instead of a deep and bass-heavy soundscape.
If you want a deeper and more bass-heavy sound with a single pipe in the center section of the exhaust system, check out the Single Mid-Pipe version (product code: FP-EXHAUST-088).
To achieve the best performance potential, it is recommended to pair the FMIC.Pro catback exhaust system with a high-flow downpipe, especially on turbocharged engines.
