Overview

This catch can removes oil and water condensation from crankcase gases before they enter the intake manifold. It helps prevent oil buildup in the intake system, intercooler, throttle body, and intake manifold, resulting in cleaner intake air, improved engine performance, and reduced hydrocarbon emissions.

The closed-loop design prevents unwanted oil vapors from entering the cabin. This kit includes everything required for a complete installation.

The catch can mounts near the firewall and installs inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold while maintaining the factory closed-loop PCV system. Because Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are suitable for turbocharged applications and can be connected directly to the intake manifold without an additional check valve.

Fluid Lock® Catch Can

In 2022, Radium Engineering introduced the patented Fluid Lock® Catch Can to solve a common issue found with traditional catch cans.

If a conventional catch can is not serviced regularly, collected contaminants can overflow back into the intake system, reducing engine performance. The patented Fluid Lock® mechanism prevents the reservoir from overfilling and securely traps collected fluids until the catch can is emptied.

Collection & Emptying

The amount of oil and moisture collected varies depending on the engine condition and driving style, so there is no fixed service interval.

Check the fluid level using the integrated dipstick after approximately 3–4 weeks of driving, then establish a maintenance schedule based on your vehicle.

The catch can can be emptied by removing the lower reservoir. If there is adequate clearance beneath the catch can, an optional Petcock Drain Kit can be installed for easier draining.

Excessive oil collection may indicate an underlying engine issue, including:

• Excessive blow-by caused by engine wear or damage
• Overfilled engine oil causing crankcase windage
• Poor breather port placement or inadequate internal baffling
• A faulty PCV valve leaking under heavy engine load
