Spool Performance Billet Manifold - BMW Gen 2 B58 Top Mount Turbo Kit

Spool Performance is proud to introduce a unique top mount turbo kit featuring a 5-axis machined billet exhaust manifold. This manufacturing method allows for extremely short ducts that retain maximum thermal energy to the turbine and avoid the common problems of cast exhaust manifolds such as cracking and excess weight. The 5-axis machining also allows for extremely efficient flow creation by balancing the wastegate duct design, ensuring excellent boost control with a single 45mm wastegate. The end result is a fast-waking, lightweight exhaust manifold that delivers virtually zero exhaust pressures and is easy to install. The modular design allows for a wide range of turbo options. The kit can be supplied with either the Spool IFX water-cooled ceramic ball bearing turbo or the Precision air-cooled turbo.


Exhaust manifold

After countless hours of design, we created a highly efficient twin scroll flow into the 5-axis machined wastegate channels, which allows for precise boost pressure control. The exhaust manifold is milled from a high-strength alloy steel billet block that expands only slightly from heat. Machining the channels directly into the block allows for short but smooth flow paths to the turbine housing, conserving thermal energy and reducing turbulence losses. This ensures a faster spool and very low exhaust pressures at high rpm. The modular design allows for quick variations for different turbochargers.


Wastegate

Wastegate channels are an often underestimated but critical part of a good exhaust manifold design. Using CFD optimization, we designed a wastegate channel where the flow is balanced between the turbine channels and the wastegate, minimizing turbulence when the gate is closed. The system uses only a single 45mm wastegate, reducing the number of parts and simplifying the design.

Accessories and delivery contents

The kit is designed to be a true plug-and-play solution. AN fittings are included for oil supply and return, water supply and return (Spool IFX turbos), and water bypass (Precision and others). An optional catch can solution is also available, which is completely plug-and-play . A corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel mandrel-bent downpipe and dump tube are included. We also offer the option to choose the color of the turbocharger housing (default red) and Cerakote thermal coating for hot parts.
